PDP stages walk out from LC

Srinagar, Oct 9:  Opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday staged walkout from Legislative Council in protest against, what it termed, failure of government to respond to its query whether National Conference leadership including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had made public commitments to provide jobs to the middle pass youth in JK during 2008 election campaign.
As Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani was answering  the queries of the PDP legislator Murtaza Khan, the lateral asked the former to give direct answer to the  query posed by him.
“Either you contest my question or concede that such commitment was made by CM during election campaign. The person who made the promise is also Home Minister of State, so you need to directly  respond to the  query,” Khan said.
In his reply, the Minister said he had no information about it, but Khan persisted with question to  either contest or admit that such  commitment was made by the Chief Minister.
“We are neither here to discuss party politics nor manifestos of PDP and NC,” Wani told Khan.
“I am here to give response to the questions related with government policy ,” the Minister added.
Unsatisfied with government’s reply the PDP legislators led by Khan staged walk out from the House.
