People have rejected family politics: BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Khalid Jehangir on Tuesday said the people have rejected the “family politics” in the state by coming out to vote in the municipal elections despite the boycott by two major regional parties.

“There is no doubt that the voter turnout has not been that much, but we are happy that the people came out despite the threat, and the poll boycott by the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party.”

“This,” he said, “clearly indicates that the people have rejected the family politics in the state and they have realised the importance of the municipal elections for strengthening the democracy at the grassroots,” Jehangir told the media persons here after casting his vote in Ganderbal.

He said the BJP candidates “stuck to the party ideology and worked as per the instructions of the party leadership under PM Narendra Modi”.

He said, “Our sole agenda in Kashmir is to ensure development on all fronts and to make the J&K at par with the rest of Indian states.”
