Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency Khalid Jahangir Friday said that betrayal with the people of Kashmir especially youth is the reason behind their alienation with mainstream leaders.
“People are being remembered during the polls and are beingbetrayed later,” Khalid said, adding that this was the reason that peopleespecially youth are alienated.
He said as far as his constituency is concerned, he will tryto remain connected to people and end the past practices of ignoring massesafter poll results.
About public support to National Conference (NC) and otherparties, Khalid said, “I remember in my childhood people in large number wereattending Dr Farooq’s rallies but today people join rallies only after theywere given benefits. It indicates that people have understood the reality ofsuch leaders.”
