A delegation of People’s Conference led by party Chairman Sajad Gani Lone Friday met Governor Satya Pal Malik and demanded a high-level inquiry into use of “indiscriminate” and “disproportionate” force by police on people in Pattan.
Accompanied by PC Senior Vice-President Abdul Gani Vakil,General Secretary Imran Reza Ansari, Bashir Dar, Abid Hussain Ansari, RajaAijaz Ali, Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Matto and Deputy Mayor Sheikh MohammadImran, Sajad told the Governor that the “brute force” was used on people, whowere protesting against alleged rape of a 3-year-old kid.
“The delegation demanded a high-level enquiry to investigatewhy excessive force was used on protestors which resulted in the death of youngArshad Hussain Dar,” the party spokesman in a statement said, adding that theyalso urged the Governor to ensure proper rehabilitation of the family ofArshad. The PC delegation demanded stern punishment for the police personnel responsiblefor killing of Arshad.
