Permanent campus vital for CUK's overall growth: Mian Altaf

National Conference senior leader and former MLA Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Thursday welcomed the shifting of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) campus to Ganderbal. The former MLA lauded the efforts of the Vice Chancellor CUK Prof Mehraj ud Din and then Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Piyush Singla and others for making possible the shifting the CUK campus to Ganderbal.

However, he said the delay in construction of its own campus at the identified site at Tulmulla Ganderbal “is causing inconvenience to the staff as well as the students besides hampering the overall functioning and growth of the university.” Altaf was speaking as chief guest at a ‘Naat competition’ event which was organised by the Department of Urdu CUK, Nunner campus here. He said the permanent campus of the varsity is vital for its overall growth and proper functioning.

“I remember after how much delay and how many obstacles, the CUK has shifted and started functioning from here.” He said he will support the university in whatever capacity he can. “I will take up the matter with the MP elect Dr Farooq Abdullah so that any issues with regard to the smooth and proper functioning of the University are redressed.”

Earlier, Mian Altaf complimented the CUK for organising the Naat competition.
