PHE casual laborers stage protest

Casual laborers and daily wagers working with PHE department staged protest at Press Colony here, demanding regularization of their services.

The workers assembled under the banner of Kashmir PHE JointEmployees Association to press for their demand including release of theirwages pending for months.

   

Led by chairman of the Association Sajad Ahmad Parray, theprotesting workers which also included land donors said the government hadassured them of “fulfilling” their demands before March 27. “They (thegovernment) have again failed to keep its promise,” said the protestingemployees.

The pending wages, regularisation of services are the twomain demands raised by the Association, said Parray.

“It has becomes difficult for us to meet daily expenses,”said a daily wager. “Our families are suffering. The studies of our childrenhave taken hit owing to non-release of wages by the government,” said anotherworker said.

The laborers said they have working sincerely for thedepartment for past many years, but “unfortunately our wages are not releasedon time”.
