PM Modi couldn’t follow Vajpayee’s footsteps: Beg

Senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party and former parliamentarian Dr Mehboob Beg on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn’t handle Kashmir the way former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee handled it.

In a statement here Dr Beg said, “North pole- south pole alliance was necessitated mainly by the mandate given by the people of the state on the basis of region and religion and the other was the past experience of the PM vajpayee of same BJP who by his approach and actions brought about a u-turn in Kashmir situation. Unfortunately PM Modi couldn’t follow his steps despite him coming from same political background.”

Dr Beg said, ” Mehbooba Mufti while resigning could have recommended dissolution of the assembly which would have been a binding on the Governor. She didn’t do it as she felt people in difficult circumstances had elected the assembly for a definite tenure and MLAs would serve a connect with the people.”

He appealed to one and all not to attempt anything which would weaken the voice of Kashmir and Kashmiris.
