Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that it seized charas from Pantha Chowk, Khanyar and Soura.
A police spokesman said that a notorious drug peddler was arrested from Pantha Chowk and 2.5 Kilograms of charas was seized from his possession.
In this regard a case FIR No. 32/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pantha Cowk, he added.
Another drug peddler, according to the police spokesman, was arrested by the officers near Khanyar Chowk in old city and 130 grams of charas was recovered from him. In this regard, a case FIR No 29/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khanyar.
Police said that officers at checkpoint near Soura intercepted a Baleno car. On checking the car 1 Kilogram of charas concealed in a bag was recovered. The accused has been arrested and is lodged at Soura Police Station. The initial investigation has revealed that the accused was involved in peddling drugs to youngsters in the city for a long time, the spokesman said.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” he added.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said that police officers arrested a bootlegger at a checkpoint at Poshkar area of Kangan and recovered 13 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
A case FIR No. 33/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kangan and investigation has been initiated.
