Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that it seized charas from Pantha Chowk, Khanyar and Soura.
A police spokesmansaid that a notorious drug peddler was arrested from Pantha Chowk and 2.5Kilograms of charas was seized from his possession.
In this regard a case FIR No. 32/2019 under relevantsections of law has been registered at Police Station Pantha Cowk, he added.
Another drug peddler, according to the police spokesman, wasarrested by the officers near Khanyar Chowk in old city and 130 grams of charaswas recovered from him. In this regard, a case FIR No 29/2019 under relevantsections of law has been registered at Police Station Khanyar.
Police said that officers at checkpoint near Souraintercepted a Baleno car. On checking the car 1 Kilogram of charas concealed ina bag was recovered. The accused has been arrested and is lodged at SouraPolice Station. The initial investigationhas revealed that the accused was involved in peddling drugs to youngsters inthe city for a long time, the spokesman said.
“Community members are requested to come forward with anyinformation regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons foundindulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actionsagainst drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are makingefforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” he added.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said that police officers arresteda bootlegger at a checkpoint at Poshkar area of Kangan and recovered 13 bottlesof illicit liquor from his possession.
A case FIR No. 33/2019 under relevant sections of law hasbeen registered in Police Station Kangan and investigation has been initiated.
