Police crack Uri murder case

Police on Sunday claimed that it has resolved case of a ‘mysterious’ death of a woman, who was found hanging in her room at her residence in Jhulia, Uri on June 29.

Police have arrested the brother-in-law of the deceased, whohas been accused for the killing.  

   

Shahida Begum, wife of Ghulam Mustafa Khatana, resident ofJhulla, Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as per police, was foundhanging in her room on June 29. Following the allegations of the deceasedwoman’s parents that the death is not case of suicide but a homicide, policestarted investigating the matter.

Subsequently, various suspects were detained forquestioning.

“During the investigations in which one suspect namelyQadeer Ahmad Khatana son of Abdul Majeed rof Julla Kalgi, who happens to bebrother-in-law and cousin of deceased woman was also questioned. Duringsustained interrogation the said person revealed that the deceased woman didnot actually commit suicide but was murdered by him,” said SSP, Baramulla,Abdul Qayoom.

He said on the night of the incident the accused had anargument with his sister-in-law and she warned him. The accused turned herscarf around her neck and gradually pulled it while grabbing her underneath andkilled her on spot.

“He then hanged the dead body in her room in order tododge her killing as suicide,” said the SSP.

Accordingly a case under relevant sections of law standsregistered in Police Station Uri and further investigation is going on, headded.
