Police distribute food items to needy in Kashmir districts

Police on Sunday said it distributed food and other items in different districts of Kashmir.

A statement said the drive was launched in Srinagar,Ganderbal, Bandipora, Shopian districts and in Sopore and Handwara.

   

In Srinagar, th statement said police distributed food itemsto destitute families at Zakura, Pantha Chowk, Nehru Park, Shaheed Gunj andRainawari areas amid COVID-19 lockdown.

It said teams from local police units reached to the needypeople especially non-local residents and distributed essentials among them.

In Bandipora, police team from police station Sumbal reachedout to people affected by the lockdown and provided them food and other itemsas a part of initiatives for the poor, whose livelihoods have been hit due tothe lockdown.

The food items and other essentials were also distributedamong the needy in Ganderbal and Shopian districts and Sopore and Handwaratowns in north Kashmir.

Apart from these drives, people were made aware to takeprecautions to fight back coronavirus pandemic. The polieca lso sought people’scooperation and obedience to the guidelines as provided by the government.

Meanwhile, police held a sanitization drive in Nishat areahere in collaboration with Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).

Besides the sanitization drive, police carried out awarenessregarding guidelines issued by the administration to break the chain of spreadof coronavirus.
