Police foil Er Rasheed’s march against Kashmir killings, Lal Singh’s threat

MLA Langate Er Rasheed was on Monday detained after he led a march to the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar to protest the recent civilian killings in Kashmir.

Rasheed along with supporters tried to march towards the secretariat but a police party stopped them and bundled the independent legislator and his supporters into a van.

Earlier, Rasheed said that they staged the march to protest the civilian killings and BJP leader Lal Singh’s threat to the Kashmiri journalists.

The controversial BJP leader, who was expelled from the cabinet for rallying in support of accused in Kathua rape-and-murder, had last week threatened the Kashmiri journalists for what he said “creating wrong narrative on Kathua case”.

Er Rasheed said “Journalists are voice of voiceless and for them everything comes after their profession..”

“No one can silence their voice, whosoever it may be. The way Amit Shah talked about Jammu and Ladakh regions being discriminated is on one hand a Himalayan lie, but on the other hand he has lowered his stature by trying to pitch Jammu versus Kashmir,” Rasheed said.

Er Rasheed appealed world community to take cognizance of “atrocities on Kashmiris” and said that facts are on the side of Kashmiris, as such “their voice has to prevail sooner or later.”
