Prepare for assembly polls in Oct-Nov: BJP tells its cadre

Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Sunday asked its cadres to prepare for assembly elections claiming that those would be held in October-November by which time delimitation, hopefully, would be completed.

This was stated by senior BJP leaders on the second and concluding day of the State Executive Committee (SEC) meet organised at Katra in Jammu division.

During the SEC meet, some resolutions were also passed.

Addressing the participants, BJP National General Secretary and incharge J&K and Ladakh, Tarun Chugh said, “Peace has almost returned to Kashmir. Prepare for elections that will be held in October-November.”

Chugh said that they were hopeful that delimitation could be completed by then.

“For sure the chief minister will be from BJP and everybody has to prepare the ground for that,” he said. “Establish mass contact and help people so that they vote for us.”

Chugh said that by scrapping the special status of Jammu and Kashmir BJP had fulfilled the dream of its founder, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, whose slogan was: ‘Ek desh mein do vidhaan, do nishaan, do pradhaan nahin chalega’.

“His dream was fulfilled and now there is no hindrance. It is peaceful now,” the BJP National General Secretary said.

He said J&K was being developed.

“Because of pandemic, development in J&K faced roadblocks,” Chugh said. “Now pandemic is almost over and things have started to move.”

J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina in his address said nobody had even thought that there would be a Deputy CM from BJP in J&K.

“People voted for us that time. We are hopeful that people will again repose faith in us and we will form government in J&K with the chief minister from BJP,” he said. “In the recently-concluded DDC polls, people reposed faith in us once again and we assure them of all development.”

“Yes, CM will be from the BJP,” Raina told Greater Kashmir. “I said this in my address to the SEC.”

During the SEC meet some resolutions were passed on scrapping of Article 370, Article 35-A, and farm laws.

Later talking to reporters, J&K BJP President said that J&K had been a state for 70 years but was looted by National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Congress.

“Now in J&K union territory things are running better and some more constitutional changes have to be made,” he said. “The government is doing that.”

Raina said statehood would be given to J&K whenever people want it.

“The Home Minister has promised it on the floor of the house that it will be given someday,” he said.
