Process pension cases of veterinarians: HC directs AG’s office

The High Court Thursday directed the Accountant General (AG) to process pensionary cases of the veterinarians who had retired from service and taken the benefit of 3rd Time Bound Promotion in terms of its judgment and an order issued by the government in this regard.

Hearing a contempt plea by J&K Veterinary Doctors Association, a bench of Justice Ali Muhammad Magray directed the AG to accord sanction for payment of pension to the veterinarians within two weeks after receiving their list from the J&K’s Directors of Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments along with individual pension cases of the petitioners.

The court directed the directors of Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments to forward these lists to the AG’s office along with individual pension cases of the beneficiaries within a week.

The direction came after the court noted that the statement of facts filed by the Accountant General, on examination revealed that the cases of the individual veterinarians for sanction of pension payment was pending on account of non-furnishing of the list of beneficiaries who were entitled for benefit of the judgment along with their cases.

The petitioners’ contention is that the government has implemented the judgment and accorded sanction for grant of 3rd Time Bound Promotion in favour of the veterinarians having five years of active service after grant of 2nd Time Bound Promotion by giving them notionally effect from January 1, 1996 and monetarily from February 17, 2004 on the pattern of SRO-43 of 2004 dated February 17, 2004.
