Protect Muslims in Jammu: Mian Altaf to Govt

Senior National Conference leader and former MLA Kangan Mian Altaf Ahmed has urged the Governor administration to ensure safety of Muslims in Jammu region.

Mian Altaf has urged the divisional and district administration of Jammu to take measures so that minorities and especially Kashmiris living there aren’t intimidated or harassed by miscreants.

   

Mian Altaf expressed concern over the volatile situation in a few areas of Jammu which are dominated by the Muslims.

“The administration must take precautionary measures like deployment of security forces in the volatile areas at an earliest to ensure the safety of the people, the acts of arson and violence are condemnable,” Mian Altaf told Greater Kashmir over phone from Jammu.

He said that reports of attacks on Muslims in Jammu were unfortunate and condemnable.

“I spoke to the DGP, ADGP law and order, DIG, Divisional Commissioner and DC Jammu, urging them to provide security to Muslim areas,” Mian Altaf said.

He appealed the people to maintain peace and communal harmony.
