Protesters block Srinagar-Leh highway near Sonamarg

Scores of people associated with the tourism sector held a protest demonstration on Srinagar-Leh highway near Gagangeer in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday against the authorities for not allowing them towards zero point Zojila to carry out their businesses.

“The district administration is not allowing the local people including drivers and other associated with the tourism to carry out their tourism related activities at zero point Zojila which is injustice with us,” said a protester.

“They are allowing all light motor vehicles towards kargil but only locals and tourists are stopped and not allowed,” he said, adding that the authorities were snatching away their livelihood.

The protesters raised slogans against the administration and demanded that they should be allowed towards Zero Point.
