Protests erupted in south Kashmir’s Tral on Thursday after more than a dozen youth were detained by government forces in various areas.
The families and relatives of detained youths assembled at Bus Stand and marched towards the main market. The protesters were demanding immediate release of their sons.
“During last one month 20 youths were detained by the forces in Tral. We are worried as so far there is no information about them,” said a woman protester.
Police fired tear gas shells on the protesters, the latter pelted stones on the police vehicles.
When contacted, a police officer denied the detention of youth.
