Protests in Tral against thrashing of Sikh driver in Delhi

Protests erupted in Tral township of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday against the alleged thrashing of a Sikh driver by Delhi Police.

A group of Sikhs and Muslims assembled at main town near BusStand and staged protest over the incident. Protesters also burnt tyres andpelted stones on the vehicles of security forces.

   

The protesters were asking government to take strong actionagainst communal elements. They were also demanding equal rights for all peopleparticularly for minorities.

Shops, other business establishments and traffic in the townwas normally running throughout the day.

On Sunday evening, a brawl between a tempo driver SarabjeetSingh and a policemen at northwest Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar went viral on socialmedia.

In one of the purported videos, the tempo driver was seenchasing the policemen with a sword. In another video, policemen were seenthrashing the driver while overpowering him. The incident sparked protestsparticularly from Sikh community.
