‘RTE not implemented in JK; state has its own Act’

Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president a J&K Teachers Forum (JKTF) chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani today met the minister for education, secretary school education , director school education, Kashmir, and the state project director (SPD), apprising them  about the issue of D.Ed for graduate and post graduate teachers and the bar of 50% marks for under graduate untrained teachers of the department.

“Right to education (RTE) Act has not been implemented in the J&K while the state has its own Act. There is no classification of teachers like primary teachers, trained graduate teachers (TGT),  post graduate trained teachers (PGT) in the state and the instructions of HRD ministry in this context have caused confusion among the teachers of the State,” a spokesman of the JKTF, in a statement today, quoted Qayoom Wani as told the authorities at meeting.
