Rasheed lodges complaint over threats by Jammu-based groups

Former legislator Er Rasheed has lodged complaint against Jammu-based political groups for allegedly threatening him.

Rasheed, who also heads the Awami Ithehad Party (AIP), lodged a written complaint at Rajbagh police station against the political groups.

In his complaint, the AIP president said, “Yesterday (Sunday) certain people claiming to be representatives of Yuva Rajput Sabha, Congress, Panthers Party and other organizations took out a march against me. During the protest, leaders of these organizations asked their supporters to behead me and chop off my tongue. They also offered huge cash rewards for any person who would carry out the shameful act”.

Terming the act as serious, he, in his complaint, apprehended “misadventure” from the political groups against him.

“…The obnoxious language used by them and asking for my head is a serious offense. We have apprehensions that these miscreants may resort to misadventure. It is therefore requested that a FIR may be lodged against these persons after proper identification and the matter be dealt in accordance with the law,” Rasheed said in his complaint.

A police official from Rajabgh police station confirmed to Greater Kashmir that complaint has been filed with them.

“Since the incident has happened in Jammu, we will consult our counterparts in Jammu before taking any action in the matter,” the official said.

Earlier, on Sunday, protests were held in Jammu against Rasheed over his remarks on Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh. Besides, two complaints-one at Domana police station and another at Gandhi Nagar police station-were also lodged against the AIP president.
