Release pending wages of casual labourers: Tarigami to Govt

CPI (M) senior leader M Y Tarigami on Saturday said that casual laborers working in Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, who had donated tracts of land in various parts of the state for setting up water reservoirs, collection tanks, sumps, sluice value chambers and quarters, are without wages for months together.

In a statement Tarigami said, “The wages of these casuallabourers are pending for months together. It is these people who run thefiltration plants and denying them their dues is injustice. Similarly, casuallabourers working in Power Development Department (PDD) Forest, AgricultureProduction, Tourism and other departments are also pending for moths causingimmense hardships to them.”

   

Government not only must pay them their pending wages immediately,but their genuine demand of regularization must be speeded up.

He said that hundreds of teacher aspirants, whose provisionselection list was released by the Service Selection Board (SSB) in August 2018and final list months back, are still waiting for joining in the department.The joining file is pending in Secretariat for months causing uncertainty andanxiety among the candidates. The Government must clear the file immediately sothat these candidates don’t suffer further.
