Yasin Malik condoles demise, terms it personal loss

Renowned cardiologist Dr Sajad Reshi breathed his last on Friday after battling with cancer for last one year.

According to reports, Nimaz-e-Jinaza of the deceased was held at Hyderpora on Friday evening. Apart from being a famous cardiologist,  Dr Reshi was popular for his intellectual capabilities and for being a philanthropist.

Dr Reshi who spent several years in England was passionate about Kashmir. Several of Dr Reshi’s friends described him as a “noble person who always wanted to contribute for the well-being of people in Kashmir.” 

According to his family members, Dr Reshi’s fatheh khawani will be held on Sunday, 22 April at 10 am at his ancestral graveyard near Hanfia College, Anantnag.

Meanwhile, chairman of JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik condoled the demise of Dr Sajad terming “it is a big loss to the whole Kashmiri nation.”

“In him we have lost a selfless friend and invaluable human being.  He was a cardiologist, intellectual and humanist doctor,” Malik said

“Yasin Malik received the news of his demise at police station Kothibagh where police lodged him after arrest,” JKLF spokesperson said in a statement.

Paying rich tributes to him, Malik said, “I have lost a selfless brother, a close friend, a caring doctor and a prudent adviser who in hot and cold weathers stood firmly behind me and cared about my health and wellbeing.”

“Doctor sahib’s demise is a personal loss and today I feel like becoming orphan again,” Malik said.

Recalling his selfless personality, his love and affection for Kashmir and Kashmiris, he said, “Dr Sajad was living a prosperous life in England for decades. He was respected as a successful doctor, a prolific teacher and a great humanist there but the love and affection of his nation, Kashmir, never faded away from his heart and mind and this love brought him back to his mother land and till his demise motivated him to serve his fellow countrymen and provided them selfless medical care.”

JKLF chairman said that the humbleness and expertise in the field of medicine possessed was unique and everyone whom he treated will admit that his smiling face healed him much more than the medicines.

Meanwhile, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) president Dr Nisar ul Hassan has expressed grief over the demise of Dr Sajad Reshi and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
