Residents in Ganderbal village demand establishment of fire service station

The inhabitants of Shairpathri block in North Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have accused the government of failing to fulfill their demand of establishing a fire and emergency service station in the area. “We have been urging the government from the last several years to establish a fire station in the area, but nothing substantial has been done so far,” the residents said.

“In case of fire incident, people struggle to douse the fire,” a local resident Aqib-ul-Ahad told Greater Kashmir adding the areas are dependent on the service of the fire stations from Ganderbal and Batwina.

“By the time, these fire tenders reach on the spot, at times property worth lakhs get damaged in the blaze,” he said.

Locals said that many government offices are present in the area, but there are no fire tenders in the area. The residents have again requested the Lt Governor administration, district administration to establish a fire station at block Shairpathri.
