Resistance leadership extends protest till Oct 6

‘Occupy Lal Chowk'' from today evening; Evening relaxation on Saturday, Wednesday, Thursday

Joint resistance leadership had extended the ongoing protest program against civilian killings by forces till October 6. 

The protest program is being spearheaded by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

From Thursday evening, September 29, and on Friday, September 30, the resistance leaders have urged people to “Occupy Lal Chowk.”

“From 6 pm (Thursday evening), march one & all from the entire Jammu & Kashmir towards Lal Chowk, Srinagar; park vehicles at Pantha Chowk, Nowgam, Sanat Nagar, Hyderpora, Bemina, Parimpora, Soura & Hazratbal and march onwards by foot. Offer Friday prayer on the Batamaloo–Dalgate stretch. Resistance/Masjid Committees/Youth Volunteers of Srinagar coordinate and ensure the arrangements,” they said. On this day, there will be no relaxation in shutdown. 

On Saturday, October 1, the resistance leaders have asked people to “Occupy Roads Towards Srinagar.”

“From 6 pm (Friday evening), march one & all from the entire Jammu & Kashmir and occupy the following roads: Islamabad – Srinagar, Pulwama – Srinagar, Budgam – Srinagar, Baramulla – Srinagar, Bandipora – Srinagar, Ganderbal – Srinagar; Ensure no traffic movement except for ambulances. Resistance/Masjid Committees/Youth Volunteers of the adjacent areas coordinate and ensure the arrangements,” they said. On this day there will be relaxation from 5 pm to 6 am. 

On Sunday, October 2, the resistance leaders have called for march to Kralpora, Sopore, Sumbal, Narbal, Ganderbal (Central), Srinagar Civil lines (Rambagh-Barzalla-Channapora Stretch), Kakapora, Shopian (Central), Pahloo, Bijbehara Freedom March. 

“From 9 a.m, march one & all from Kupwara to Kralpora, Baramulla to Sopore, Bandipora to Sumbal, Budgam to Narbal, Ganderbal to Ganderbal (Central), Srinagar to Srinagar Civil lines (Rambagh-Burzulla-Chanapora Stretch), Pulwama to Pahloo, Shopian to Shopian (Central), Kulgamto Pahloo and Islamabad to Bijbehara; Post Zuhr prayer, hold Freedom Congregation at the place identified and agreed upon locally and mutually. Resistance/Masjid Committees/Youth Volunteers of these blocks coordinate and ensure the arrangements,” they said. On this day, there will be no relaxation. 

On Monday, October 3, the resistance leaders have asked people to “Occupy DC Offices.”

“From 6 p.m. (Sunday Evening) march one & all towards your respective DC offices and occupy them; The Deputy Commissioners are acting as Nodal Officers of Indian machinery in civilian cloak and are at the forefront of issuing detention orders under PSA. Also these DCs are actively coordinating with MLAs, Central & State Intelligence agencies, JK Police, Indian Army and other Indian paramilitary forces to devise the plans and strategies to crush the present peoples uprising against India’s forcible control. For their anti-people and anti-movement role, list of all such Deputy Commissioners will be soon made public for comprehensive boycott,” the resistance leaders said in a statement. 

The resistance leadership have urged women to observe Tuesday, October 4, as “Women’s Day.”

“Assemble and occupy local chowks and centres from Zuhr to Asr in the vicinity of your mohallas, villages and localities; Protest with Flags, Placards and Banners with Freedom messages and slogans,” they said. There will be no relaxation on this day. 

On Wednesday, October 5, the resistance leaders have asked people to hold “One Day Azadi Convention.” “Neighbouring villages and localities organize one day Azadi convention from 11 am to 4 pm in respective areas; Deliberate and discuss ways and means to strengthen the ongoing people’s uprising for freedom from India’s forcible control. Resistance/Masjid Committees/Youth Volunteers of these areas coordinate and ensure the arrangements,” they said. On this day there will be relaxation from 5 p.m to 6 a.m. 

On Thursday, October 6, the resistance leaders have called for “Baramulla-Srinagar-Islamabad Freedom March.”

“From 9 a.m, march one & all from North Kashmir to Baramulla, Central Kashmir to Srinagar and South Kashmir to Islamabad; Post Zuhr prayer, hold Freedom Congregation at the place identified and agreed upon locally and mutually. Resistance/Masjid Committees/Youth Volunteers of Baramulla, Srinagar and Islamabad coordinate and ensure the arrangements,” they said. On this day there will be relaxation from 5 p.m to 6 a.m. 

The resistance leaders have urged people to observe shutdown across Jammu & Kashmir on all days except for the relaxation mentioned in the program.

“Public vehicular movement not to be stopped after 10 p.m to 6 a.m on all nights. Lockdown all the routes entering your Mohallas, Villages and Localities by every means during night to protect people in general and youth in particular from the raids and arrests by Indian forces and J&K Police. Play Islamic and Azadi Taranas from Maghrib to Isha on all days. Paste this Protest Program Poster on the entrance of every masjid and in market places, mohallas and local chowks,” they said.
