Restore traffic movement, power, water supply in Budgam: Hakeem Yaseen

Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Chairman Hakeem Yaseen Monday urged the administration to expedite snow clearance on roads in rural areas of central Kashmir’s Budgam district so that traffic movement is restored at the earliest.

A statement of PDF issued here quoted Yaseen as saying that traffic movement, power and water supply in rural areas of the district had been hit badly due to the recent snowfall.

“The administration should press into service its entire men and machinery to restore the system on an emergency basis,” he said in the statement and called for taking urgent measures to clear snow from roads to restore traffic movement in rural areas of Budgam district.

Yaseen said most of the roads in rural areas of Budgam were still closed due to the ongoing snowfall, causing inconvenience to the people, and urged the administration to press into service all the available men and machinery to restore traffic movement in all rural areas. He also urged the administration for restoring power and water supply which had been affected by the ongoing snowfall. Yaseen has also urged the administration to make available all the essential commodities in the market and check black marketing and hoarding of essential commodities in the wake of the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway.

“For this purpose, market checking teams should be activated on a war-footing basic,” he said in the statement. “Stern action should be taken against unscrupulous traders indulging in profiteering and black marketing.”
