Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers of zone Hariganwan in Kangan Thursday staged protests to press for their demand of releasing their salary.

The protesting teachers assembled in front of the ZEO office and demanded delinking of their salaries from MHRD plan. Holding placards in their hands and raising anti-government slogans, they expressed strong resentment against the government for not fulfilling their demands.

“Our main demand is delinking of SSA salaries from Central MHRD plan and creating budgetary posts for SSA teachers under state plan so that teachers get salaries at the end of every month,” said Imtiyaz Ahmad, a protesting teacher. “We have to wait for months for the release of our dues and this adversely affects the academics in schools.”

He urged the government to come to the rescue of families of thousands of SSA teachers and not to force them to leave their schools and come on roads.

“We don’t have such intention which can suffer lakhs of poor students. We are pushed to the wall and our families are facing starvation. The delay in release of salary has made our life hell,” zonal president ReT Teachers Forum, Khurshid Ahmad Bajard said.

“Tall claims and assurances of former Education Minister to regulate and streamline SSA salaries have fallen flat on ground and teachers are compelled to hit the streets for highlighting their plight,” he said.
