RTIM questions go-ahead to Gulmarg winter games

Chairman J&K RTI Movement (RTIM) Dr Shaikh Ghulam Rasool on Friday questioned the government’s decision to go ahead with the winter games at Gulmarg, amid the advisory against mass gatherings owing to the Coronavirus scare.

“It is shocking thatwinter games in Gulmarg haven’t been rescheduled or cancelled amid the(Coronovirus) outbreak across the world,” Dr Rasool said in a statement.

   

He said when the worldwas on high alert precautionary measures were being put in place, includingcancelling all small and big events to contain spread of the epidemic, havingwinter gamesin Gulmarg was “highly irresponsible.”

Advocate Irfan Hafiz ofthe Movement said the event puts lives of 1000s of people travelling andcommunity of Kashmir at great risk and danger.

General Secretary of the Movement Dr Fayaz Lone appealedgovernment to not put lives in danger and cancel or reschedule the event.

Peer Mohiuddin, Vice Chairman of the Movement said they havealready started a campaign at grassroots level.
