SAC approves hike in SPOs’ honorarium

The State Administrative Council (SAC) Sunday approved the increase in honorarium of Special Police Officers (SPOs).

Meeting here under the chairmanship of Governor Satya PalMalik, the SAC approved an increase in the honorarium of SPOs of J&K policeaccording to which they (SPOs) who have less than three years of service wouldnow be paid a monthly remuneration of Rs 6,000, while those who have completedthree years of service would be paid Rs 9,000 per month.

   

Whereas, the SPOs who have completed five and 10 years ofservice would be paid Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 per month, the SAC approved,adding that those who have completed 15 years of service would now be paid Rs18,000 per month.

The hike in honorarium will benefit over 30,000 SPOs of Jammuand Kashmir police.

Meanwhile, the SAC also decided that the entire policepersonnel will be given the dress and kit maintenance allowance directly incash, at significantly increased rates.

The allowance will also be given to Special Police Officers(SPOs) in the form of an honorarium, it decided.

Pertinently, the annual allowance being given to policepersonnel as kit maintenance allowance was Rs 40 per month to non-gazettedemployees and Rs 150 per month to gazetted officers.

According to the SAC decision, Senior Superintendents ofPolice, Superintendents of Police and Deputy Superintendents of Police of Jammuand Kashmir police will now get Rs 10,000 per annum as dress and kitmaintenance allowance in cash, while as the police personnel from the rank ofInspector to Assistant Sub Inspector will get Rs 7,000 per annum.

Similarly, as per the decision, dress and kit maintenanceallowance to police personnel from the rank of Head Constable to Followers willnow be Rs 6,000 per annum and SPOs shall be paid an honorarium of Rs 3,000 perannum for their uniform.
