SC-ST candidates protest, seek implementation of reservation order

Scores of candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC on Sunday held a protest demonstration in north Kashmir’s district Bandipora, demanding implementation of presidential order on reservation of backward classes.

The candidates assembled in Gulshan Chowk Bandipora whileholding placards, demanding implementation of the presidential order.

   

They said that the state government is yet to implement thepresidential order regarding reservation quota for OBC candidates andrestoration of reservation in promotion.

“Government has been non-serious in implementing the reservation order for which the president has already given the consent. State government is delaying the promotion of employees belonging to OBC category despite the presidential order.

The government needs to enhance reservation from 2% to 27% for OBC and clearance of pending backlog of 1 lakh posts of SC, ST & OBC youth before imposition of code of conduct in the state,” Amir Khan, one of the protestors said. He said that the government should revisit the reservation policy of the state and before implementing 10% reservation to the general category, reservation for OBC category should be enhanced to 27%.
