Schools closed for 10 days in Bandi village

The district administration Baramulla has closed all educational institutions in Bandi Payeen area of Chandoosa in the wake of recent gunfight that left two militants dead. The students of these schools have been shifted to the educational institutions located in the adjacent village of the area.

An official said the decision to close down the schools atBandi village was communicated by the police to the district administrationciting “possibility of explosives” from the encounter site.

   

In this regard, a letter shot to the chief education officer(CEO) by the deputy commissioner Baramulla, G N Itoo reads: “The SSPBaramulla has advised to close the schools for at least 10 days at Bandi Payeento sanitize the whole area in view of the recent encounter and possibility ofexplosives.”

“Immediate necessary action in the matter may be takenin the matter under intimation to this office.”

A top police official of the district said they destroyedsix grenades from the debris at the gunfight site following which theysuggested the district administration to close the institutions in the village.

He said a bomb disposal squad has been stationed at policepost Chandoosa as well. “We have suggested to close the schools to avoidany casualties,” the police official said.

There are three schools in the village which include agovernment higher secondary school (HSS) Bandi Payeen and two government middleschools.
