Seminar on environment conservation held at Pahalgam

As a follow up to World Environment Day celebrations, the Himalayan Welfare Organization held a-one day seminar on ‘environment conservation and sustainable development’ at Townhall Pahalgam, today.

The seminar was aimed at generating awareness about environmental issues concerning local water bodies and glaciers, land grab, sanitation, conservation of Himalayan ecosystem and the need for developing pathways for sustainable development in the region, the organizers said in a statement issued here.

The seminar was attended by locals, political representatives, civil society members, administration, media persons and members from the teaching community. 

MLA Shangus, Gulzar Ahmad Wani presided over the function and spoke as chief guest while MLA Homshalibug Ab Majid Bhat Larmi spoke as the guest of honor.

A vision document was also prepared using suggestions and insights from the discussion at the seminar, highlighting pressing environmental concerns in the region and possible solutions thereof, the statement further said.
