Shia-Suni meet calls for unity

Chairman of Anjuman Shari Shian and senior Hurriyat Conference leader Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi Thursday asked Shias and Sunnis to remain united and foil the “nefarious designs” of the elements hell bent to create a wedge between the two communities.

While chairing a Shia-Sunni coordination committee meet ahead of holy month of Muharram at Gasiyar Zadibal here, Aga Hassan said, “Our unity is our great strength. It is our collective duty to denounce the persons involved in undesirable and sinful acts and trying to create a wedge between people.”

Others who attended the meeting, included chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik, Jamat-e-Islami spokesperson advocate Zahid Ali, president Himayat-ul-Islam Maulana Khurshid Ahmed Qanungo, representatives of Hurriyat Conference (G), Hurriyat Conference (M), Hakim Abdul Rashid, Pir Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Ghulam Muhammad Mir and president Shaheed Milat Forum Mushtaq Ahmed Sofi.

Paying tributes to the martyrs of Karbala, he depicted certain aspects of Muharamul Haram and condemned the continuing government move to ban Muharam processions for the past three decades.

Aga Hasan also threw light on life and teachings of martyrs of Karbala and asked people to follow their path and teachings of Islam.

“The martyrs of Karbala have set an example for us through their deeds, which will remain till the last day of this world,” he said.

Aga Hasan prayed for the peace of whole Muslim Ummah, for their unity and integrity. “Without unity among Muslims, problems cannot be resolved. Enemies of Islam are making untiring efforts to defame Islam. They won’t be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs,” Aga Hasan said. “Need of the hour is to remain united.”
