Shopian gunfights: Another youth succumbs, civilian toll mounts to four

The death toll of civilians killed in forces’ action in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday mounted to four after a youth succumbed at SKIMS Soura.

The deceased youth was identified as Iqbal Bhat, son of Manzoor Ahmad of Khasipora Shopian. Reports said that Iqbal had received bullet injury in his abdomen.

   

Earlier, three civilians – Mehraj-ud-Din Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker and Zubair Ahmad Bhat – were killed near gunfight sites.

With Iqbal’s killing, the toll has mounted to 18, including eleven militants and three army soldiers. Over 100 civilians were injured in the forces’ action.
