A shutdown was observed in southern Shopian district for the second straight day Sunday to mourn the killings of the militants in the area.
On Saturday morning two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants—Shahijahan Mir and Abid Hussain Wagay of Amshipora and Rawalpora villagesrespectively— were killed in a rather brief encounter with security forces inGahind village of the district.
All the shops and business establishments remained closedwhile the traffic was sparse on the roads.
Meanwhile, mourners made a beeline to the native villages ofthe slain militants to express their sympathies with the bereaved families.
