Police on Monday said it booked residents of Dachoo village here for allegedly violating section 144 by organising a charity program.
“The residents cooked rice at their houses and laterdistributed it among people who had gathered at a designated place in thevillage,” witnesses said.
However, soon after the function ended, some officials and apolice team reached the village, and booked many residents for violating theorders of district magistrate under section 144 CrPc, witnesses said.
In an official statement, police said they booked violatorsof village Dachoo (FIR No 16/2020 u/s 188, 270 IPC) at police station Zainporafor violating the district magistrate order by organising community function attheir village.
“Restrictions were imposedin the district by order of district magistrate in the wake of epidemicdeclared due to COVID -19,” said the official, adding the case was registeredat police station Zainapora.
