SHRC seeks report into beating of Kashmiri students

The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Tuesday asked the divisional commissioner of Kashmir to submit a report into the beating of four Kashmiri students in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur.

The commission took cognisance of the incident after a petition was filed by rights activist Ahsan Untoo.

On February 13, Kashmiri students Faisal Ahmad Parray, Zahid Afzal Wani, Naeed Ahmad Hajam and Mohsin Salam Rather, all residents of Bandipora, were “ruthlessly beaten by goons from Maharashtra batch students in Raipur Chhattisgarh without any rhyme and reason”, the petition said.

“…this is a well organised conspiracy hatched by the communal forces to restrain Kashmiri students from obtaining education or other skills,” reads the petition.
