Shutdown in Zaingeer parts to mourn killing of militants

Parts of Zaingeer belt of Sopore in north Kashmir observed a complete shutdown on Friday to mourn killings of two local militants in a gunfight with forces on Thursday at Dangarpora.

Shops and the other business establishments were shut while traffic also remained off the roads.

People from Sopore and its neighboring areas visited the residences of both the slain militants at Warpora and Brath Kalan to offer condolences with the family.

Two Lashkar militants Asif Ahmad Var of Aftab Mohalla Warpora and Naseer Ahmad Mir of Brath Kalan were killed in a day long gunfight with the government forces. They were laid to rest amid at their respective native villages.

Eyewitnesses said that thousands of people including women participated in their funeral prayers. They shouted slogans. Women were seen beating their chests.
