Shutdown, restrictions in Sopore; Internet suspended, educational institutions closed

Life remained paralysed in Sopore on Friday due to a shutdown and restrictions imposed by the authorities to prevent protests against the killing of a local militant in a shootout with Handwara in north Kashmir.

Reports said that all shops and other commercial establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads. 

   

Government forces have imposed restrictions in parts of Sopore town to prevent protests against killing of Naseer Teli, a resident of Gulabad Arampora, in a brief shootout in Sagipora area of Handwara last night.

Authorities have also suspended the Internet service and closed educational institutions in Sopore.
