Citing recent incidents, members of Sikh community Monday staged protest demonstration here against what they said hurting religious sentiments of the community.
The protestors assembled at Press Enclave here under thebanner of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Budgam and demanded immediate stoppingof such incidents that hurt their religious sentiments.
Santpal Singh, president of Gurudwara prabandhak committeeBudgam said that from past few weeks some incidents have occurred in J&Kwherein the Sikh youth have been asked to take off Kara and Kirpan.
He said Sikh community strongly condemns the incident inwhich a Sikh journalist Amrit Pal Singh who had gone to cover press conferenceof National Conference at Nawa-e-Subah was subjected to “physical checking ofhis turban by police.”
