Sikhs for fresh probe in Chattisinghpora massacre

Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 31: Scores of Sikhs today demonstrated on Boulevard urging the government to order fresh probe into Chattisinghpora and other massacres and fulfill their long pending demands.
The demonstrators led by All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee said that they were forced to come on roads as successive regimes, instead of redressing their grievances were “dividing” Sikhs on the basis of region.
They said Sikhs had been demanding: Minority status, proper representation in Government and Assembly, safety measures for those living in valley, economic improvement and jobs packages at par with Pundits and Buddhists, solution to the problems of 1947 refugees, transport to be recognized as industry, no delay in issuance of state subject and backward certificate, proper status for ‘Punjabi language.
APSCC Coordinator, Jagmohan Singh Raina, said “The State and Centre had been turning a blind eye on the problems faced by Sikhs in J&K. They live under fear-psychosis, which has led in gradual decrease in the population of Sikh community in the valley.”
