Slain militant's son gets 95% marks

Nazar’s father, Shaheen Gulzar, was a militant and died on August 11, 2015 in a gunfight with forces at Ratnipora Pulwama.

Only three months after the death of his father, who died in an encounter with forces, Nazar Jehangir of Talangama Pulwama has made his family proud by scoring 472 marks in class tenth examinations results of which were declared on Sunday. 

Nazar’s father, Shaheen Gulzar, was a militant and died on August 11, 2015 in a gunfight with forces at Ratnipora Pulwama.

While talking to Greater Kashmir Nazar Jehangir said that his father’s death was a big shock for him and his family but he took a stand and worked hard to ensure that he fulfills the dream of his late father.

“When my father died I was shocked and there was no possibility about me appearing for the examination. I did not lose courage and started studying to fulfill my father’s dream to see me as a chemical engineer,” said Nazr, student of Islamic school Pathan Pulwama.

“It took me more than one month to make up my mind to appear for exams. Credit for my success goes to my late father who always supported me, and also to my mother who despite facing biggest tragedy of her life stood by my side.”

“We were not expecting that he would sit in exams and can pass, but he has showed the courage and will by getting 95 percent marks which is a great achievement for us too” said Younis, Nazar’s cousin.

Locals have appreciated and praised the local boy for making their village proud despite facing lot of problems.
