A three day workshop organised by SMC aiming at Implementation of Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act 2013 today began here.
Chairman National Commission for SafaiKaramCharis,Governmentof India, ManharValjibhaiZala was the chief guest on the occasion. He wasaccompanied by Secretary of National Commission for SafaiKaramcharis, PrincipalPrivate Secretary Mahindar Prasad, consultant Puran Singh.
“Through such events we want to empower and encouragethis safai community and know their present status in terms of workingmechanism, health conditions and the conditions of their houses and coloniesthey are living in,” he added.
Commissioner SMCKhurshid Ahmed Sanai in his presentation gave an overview of SMC and its various functioning.
