An army soldier committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at Hamray Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.
The deceased soldier has been identified as Sepoy BattiniTirupati Rao, 22. He was working with the 22 engineering regiment and wasposted at Hamray Pattan. As per police, Rao shot himself at around 11 a.m whileon the duty. He was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where hesuccumbed to his injuries. Police have registered a case and startedinvestigation into the matter.
