Soldier wounded in ongoing gunfight in south Kashmir’s Pulwama

A soldier was wounded during a gunfight that broke out between militants and the government forces in Ratnipora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

A police official that a joint team of the army, SOG and the CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Ratnipora following specific inputs about the presence of militants around 3 am.

   

He said the militants opened fire on the forces during searches. “The forces immediately returned the fire, triggering a gunfight,” he said.

The official an army man suffered injuries during the initial round of fire. He was shifted to a hospital for treatment, said the official.

The gunfight was underway when this report was being filed.
