Solina hit-and-run case cracked: Police

A hit-and-run case of Solina area of Srinagar has been solved and the accused arrested, Police said Saturday.

A statement of Police issued here said quoted the Police spokesman as saying that on December 17, 2020, Police Station Shergarhi received information that an unknown Santro vehicle had hit a person near Solina who had been shifted to SMHS hospital in critical condition.

   

The Police spokesman said that a case under FIR No 78/2020 under the relevant sections of the law was registered at Police Station Shergarhi and investigation into the matter was initiated.

He said that the injured person later succumbed to his injuries on December 23, 2020.

“During the course of investigation, CCTV footage was obtained and analysed which led to the involvement of a suspicious white-colouredSantro vehicle with Delhi-based registration number,” the Police spokesman said in the statement. “Accordingly, search for the vehicle was started and wide coverage given on all media platforms.”

The Police spokesman said that with the aid of technical evidences, human inputs and strenuous efforts, the investigating team zeroed in on an accused person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, son of Muhammad Assadullah of Hardashoora, presently at Faizan Colony, NaikBagh, Nowgam.

He said that on questioning, the accused person confessed of his involvement in the commission of crime.

The Police spokesman said that the accused had been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

“The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized,” he said in the statement.
