The apple growers on Friday here appealed Governor NN Vohra to ensure transportation facilities for their produce, as they have apprehensions that strike called by All India Transport Association (AITA) may affect their crop from reaching to outside markets.
The apple growers and dealers associated with Sopore Fruit Mandi said they have apprehensions that due to the strike called by AITA their crop may not reach to outside markets. “We request Governor to make availability of transport possible for us, so that smooth transportation of early Apple varieties reaches to outside markets,” said Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, President Sopore Fruit Mandi.
He added government should come to their rescue otherwise over 6000 crores fruit industry is going to suffer heavy loss.
