Sopore gunfight: Locals find body parts from debris of house

The residents of Warpora in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday retrieved the body parts of the two militants who were killed by the forces earlier today in a gunfight, reports said.

The body parts were found by locals from the debris of a house razed to rubble during the gunfight in Warpora area of Sopore, reported news agency GNS.

The body parts were found after the joint team of police and army withdrew from the gunfight site following the killing of two militants whose “bodies” were claimed to have been retrieved by the joint forces along with as many weapons and other arms and ammunition.

When contacted, SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal told GNS that a police team was rushed to the spot as soon as the information was received in this regard.

“There was one arm and some organs of the militants which were found by the locals and they have been now retrieved by the police party,” the SSP said.

Following the incident, locals staged pro-freedom protests.
