Sopore shuts on second straight day to mourn killing of local militant in south Kashmir shootout

Shutdown is being observed in Sopore and it’s adjoining areasfor the second straight day against the killing of a local militant in agunfight with the security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district yesterday.

All shops and other business establishments remained shutwhile as thin movement of traffic was witnessed on the roads in Sopore town. 

   

Authorities have suspended the class work at a feweducational institutions in Sopore sub division as a precautionary measure.

“In view of prevailing situation and as a precautionarymeasure, Govt Degree college. Sopore, higher secondary school boys and highersecondary school girls Sopore shall suspend their class work tomorrow on May11th 2019,” read an order issued by the additional district magistrate Soporelast evening.

The rest of the educational institutions, it said, willfunction normally.

Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi alias Abdullah Bhai, a resident of ModelTown Sopore was killed in a gunfight with the security forces in southernShopian district early Friday.
