Soz, G H Mir, Yaseen urge Governor to ensure safety of Kashmiris

Mainstream politicians have urged Governor Satya Pal Malik and Union Home Minister to safeguard lives and properties of Kashmiris in Jammu and other states.

Senior Congress leader and former union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz in a statement said  that  “many people in Jammu know what Kashmir is passing through these days. Even so, it is the responsibility of the Governor’s administration to make people of Jammu know better that any kind of disruption is bad and counter-productive. I feel sad that a small section of people in Jammu with sectarian outlook on issues, don’t realize that any untoward action of a sectarian nature can add a new dimension to the strife.”

   

Governor’s Administration should do more to ensure perfect communal harmony in the state, Soz added. 

In a statement president of Democratic Party  (Nationalist) Ghulam Hassan Mir said the students who are studying outside the state feel threatened their security needs to be ensured. 

Mir urged the saner elements of the society across the state to come forward to stop the designs of those elements who want to create a wedge within the society. 

He condemned harassment and intimidation of innocent Kashmiris in different states sought intervention of Governor’s administration and Central government to ensure safety and security for Kashmiris studying or living outside the state.

While condemning the mob violence that broke out in Jammu in wake of Thursday’s Lethpora attack, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen in a statement urged the Governor’s administration and Central Government to ensure the safety and security of Kashmiris living in Jammu and outside the state.”By targeting members of a particular community, anti-social and fringe elements in Jammu are vitiating peaceful atmosphere and unity of the state. We condemn the attacks on Kashmiris in Jammu and some other parts of the country and appeal for communal harmony,” he said in a statement.
