Peoples Conference Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone, Tuesday said that the special provisions of Jammu and Kashmir are irreversible and sacred.
Lone issued the statement while chairing a meeting of the party’s political affairs committee, wherein a discussion on the future strategy in wake of the recent developments suggesting a threat to the special identity was held. While the meeting stressed that there is as yet no clear evidence, it underscored the need to not be off guard.
During the meeting, Lone appealed to all parties to refrain from attacking each other, at least for the time being when the political conditions are mired in suspense. “Politics gives us enough opportunities to attack each other and we all possess enough ammunition. We have come across a few statements from our rival parties targeting our leaders. While the temptation of getting back is always high, we restrained ourselves and refrained from going into war of words at this crucial juncture.”
The party assured that it will contribute to any sincere collective effort aimed at unifying and amplifying the voices raised in defence of the state’s special status.
Senior vice president of the party Ab Gani Vakil, general secretary Imran Ansari, provincial president Abbas Wani, Bashir Ahmed Dar, Abid Hussain Ansari, Raja Aijaz Ali, Sheikh Imran, Asif Lone and spokesperson Adnan Ashraf Mir were also present in the meeting.
