Srinagar admin launches Talaash for people to report travel history, suspected cases

The district administration here Friday launched an online initiative for people to report travel history.

The website, titled Talaash (search) has message, reading”Fight novel coronavirus, an initiative of district administration Srinagar.”

   

The website provides options of “self report” and “reportabout others.”

Once accessed, an information provider has to submit allnecessary details like name and contact number.

To avoid and discourage fake information, the websitegenerates One Time Password, to be sent on mobile number of informationprovider.

Then, the information provider has to submit four digit code(OTP), before he proceeds further.

While submitting travel report about others, the websitegives an option to the information provider if he wishes anonymity.

It also informs people that students and other people havingtravel history to Covid-19 affected countries and other affected areas who havenot declared their history till date must report to local health authorities,through Covid-19 helpline numbers or through website/app.

Through the website an appeal has been made to familymembers, neighbors and people in general to bring suspected cases in notice ofthe administration through the website/app, so that necessary measures in theinterest of public health can be taken by the government.

The website has also contact numbers for general public incase they want to provide information telephonically. The numbers are:0194-2457552, 0194-2457543, 9419028251, 9419028242, and 9419014723.

On 24 March, this year J&K High Court took serious noteof reports that some people were concealing their travel history. The Courtdirected authorities of J&K and Ladakh to strictly punish violators inaccordance with the law.

It said judicial notice could be taken of the several complaintsbeing made in the electronic and the print media with regards to personsconcealing their travel history to escape the mandatory quarantine.

As part of the initiative to break the chain of theinfection in the community, the administration has requisitioned 65well-equipped hotels and government accommodations to be used as quarantinefacilities.
